Anti-Flag share New Single and Lyric Video „Christian Nationalist“
Announce European Tour Dates
Intimate US Shows in NYC, LA, Chicago
Political punk icons, Anti-Flag,have just released a brand new single „Christian Nationalist“ and its accompanying lyric video. For over two decades the Pittsburgh, PA based band have been leading the charge of progressivism in punk, and their newest track proves they still have plenty of fire left. The new single follows their 2017 full-length, American Fall, and 2019 live album, Live Vol. 2, and Anti-Flag are currently putting the final touches on a new studio album, further details to come.
„Christian Nationalist“ starts with a brief moment of subdued organ before exploding into the kind of powerful guitars and anthemic hooks that the band excel at, and in true Anti-Flag form the song is uncompromising in its message—its lyrics striking directly at the „white neo-fascist supremacists“ in positions of power who use oppression to maintain control over others.
Anti-Flag vocalist/guitarist, Justin Sane, provided further insight into the song’s lyrics saying, “History is full of wealthy and powerful people using religion and cultism to justify policies of oppression and inequality. Invariably, these policies target the most vulnerable in society so that elites can maintain their dominance. Today we see this same strategy employed by right wing politicians all over the world. Just as the anti-fascists of the 1930’s and 1940’s rejected the fascist ideologies of their era, we reject the neo-fascists of this era. Theocracy is dangerous and inherently anti-democratic because it restricts individual choice and provides an avenue by which politicians can claim a moral superiority over “the other”. It gives political cover and justification for policies and actions which might otherwise be deemed morally objectionable, inhuman, or adverse to the best interest of the country.”
Anti-Flag have announced a lengthy run of European tour dates as well as a series of intimate U.S. shows including Mercury Lounge in New York City on October 31st, House Of Machines in Los Angeles on November 8th, and Reggies in Chicago on December 20th. Die politischen Punk-Ikonen Anti-Flag haben soeben eine brandneue Single „Christian Nationalist“ und das dazugehörige Lyric-Video veröffentlicht. Seit über zwei Jahrzehnten ist die in Pittsburgh, PA, beheimatete Band führend im Progressivismus des Punk und ihr neuester Track beweist, dass sie immer noch viel Feuer übrig hat. Die neue Single folgt ihrem 2017 in voller Länge, American Fall und 2019 Live-Album, Live Vol. 2 und Anti-Flag geben derzeit den letzten Schliff für ein neues Studioalbum, weitere Details folgen.
„Christian Nationalist“ beginnt mit einem kurzen Moment gedämpfter Orgel, bevor er in die Art von kraftvollen Gitarren und hymnischen Hooks explodiert, mit denen die Band glänzt, und in wahrer Anti-Flag-Form ist der Song in seiner Botschaft kompromisslos – seine Texte treffen direkt auf den „Weiße neofaschistische Supremacisten“ in Machtpositionen, die Unterdrückung einsetzen, um die Kontrolle über andere zu behalten.
Der Anti-Flag-Sänger und -Gitarrist Justin Sane gab einen weiteren Einblick in die Songtexte: „Die Geschichte ist voll von reichen und mächtigen Menschen, die Religion und Kultismus einsetzen, um Unterdrückungs- und Ungleichheitspolitik zu rechtfertigen. Diese Politik zielt ausnahmslos auf die am stärksten gefährdeten Bevölkerungsgruppen ab, damit die Eliten ihre Dominanz behalten können. Heute sehen wir die gleiche Strategie, die von rechten Politikern auf der ganzen Welt angewendet wird. So wie die Antifaschisten der 1930er und 1940er Jahre die faschistischen Ideologien ihrer Zeit ablehnten, lehnen wir die Neofaschisten dieser Zeit ab.“
„Theokratie ist gefährlich und inhärent antidemokratisch, weil sie die Wahlmöglichkeiten des Einzelnen einschränkt und einen Weg darstellt, auf dem Politiker eine moralische Überlegenheit gegenüber „dem Anderen“ beanspruchen können. Es bietet politischen Schutz und Rechtfertigung für Maßnahmen und Aktionen, die ansonsten als moralisch anstößig, unmenschlich oder dem besten Interesse des Landes abträglich angesehen werden könnten.“
Anti-Flag hat eine lange Reihe von Tourdaten für Europa angekündigt.
