This was announced by On Stage as the agency of Gerry McAvoy’s Band Of Friends. It will be 25 years since Rory Gallagher died. For this occasion, his former backing band will present a special program live.
Scottish drummer Edward ‚Ted‘ McKenna died on January 19, 2019 of complications during the operation of a hernia. He starred in the The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, was in the band of Rory Gallagher from 1978 to 1981, and worked for the Michael Schenker Group from 1981 to 1984, working briefly with Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) in 1990. Most recently he was on the drums for the Band Of Friends – along with Gerry McAvoy and Marcel Scharpenzeel. Ted McKenna was 68 years old.
The Band of Friends has committed to the complete work of Rory Gallagher. The singer and guitarist Marcel Scherpenzeel is unbelievably original.
The band of friends also has their own albums on the market, which is a logical evolution of Rory Gallagher’s music.
